Archive and bulk archive now void pending approval quorums and
cancel requested signatures before freezing the document. Unarchive
reverts any leftover pending approval to draft. A migration backfills
archived documents that still carry in-flight workflow rows.

The MCP publishDocument tool required callers to pass approver_ids and
to distinguish an omitted list (rejected) from an empty one (direct
publish), a null-vs-empty subtlety that is awkward for an LLM to get
right.
Drop approver_ids from the MCP tool and resolve a major publish's
approvers from the document's default approvers instead: an approval is
requested when the document has default approvers, otherwise the version
is published directly. Default approvers are configured with addDocument
or updateDocument.
Replace a document's default approvers on every major publish that
supplies an explicit list, even when the list is empty, so a direct
publish through the GraphQL API clears stale approvers instead of
leaving them behind (previously the empty case skipped the update).
Expose the default-approver behaviour as a separate entry point,
PublishVersionWithDefaultApprovers, that loads the defaults and
delegates to PublishVersion. PublishVersion keeps its explicit-approver
contract for the GraphQL API.
Require only the publish permission to publish a version, whether or not
it opens an approval quorum, and drop the now-unused request-approval
action.
Fold the publish steps into the publishMinor and publishMajor primitives
shared by both the single and bulk publish paths, and drop the redundant
InTx suffix from RequestApproval and emitDocumentEvent, which already
take a transaction argument.

The source headers, LICENSE files, and license metadata had drifted
apart. Align the entire project to MIT:
- Convert every source-file header to the MIT text across all comment
styles (Go, TS, TSX, JS, MJS, SQL, CSS, GraphQL, shell), including
SPDX-License-Identifier tags
- Set the root and cookie-banner LICENSE files to the MIT text with a
"MIT License" title line
- Switch the package.json license fields, Docker image label, and
cookie-banner README to MIT
- Update docs and the genmodels header generator accordingly
- Normalize copyright lines to a single format

When a new minor version is published, still-REQUESTED signature requests
on the previous version now move onto the newly published version, keeping
the same signature row so the notification schedule (count and last-notified
time) is preserved. SIGNED signatures are left untouched.

Employee document signatures recorded an acknowledgment with no
cryptographic proof, unlike document approvals which already create
and accept an electronic signature on every decision.
Mirror the approval flow on the sign path: generate the signed
document PDF, create-and-accept an esign record, and persist its id
on the document_version_signatures row through a new
electronic_signature_id column. Capture the signer IP and user agent
in the resolver, and re-check the published/archived preconditions
inside the transaction so the seal cannot race document state.
Make the consent wording a single backend source of truth shared by
the text that is sealed and the text shown in the UI. Define
DocumentSignatureConsentText and DocumentApprovalConsentText in the
probo service package and the NDA copy in the trust service, each
owned by the flow that uses it, and stop esign from appending the
generic clause to caller-provided consent text so approvals no
longer seal a duplicated sentence.
Expose the resolved consent text through GraphQL on
EmployeeDocumentVersion and DocumentVersionApprovalDecision, and have
the signing, approval, and NDA pages render it from the API instead
of hard-coded strings, mirroring how the NDA page already worked.
Align the wording with the actual interaction: the buttons read
"Review and sign" and "Review and approve", the clauses reference
those actions, and the inaccurate "typing my full name" phrasing is
removed everywhere.

The publish flow ignored a document's stored default approvers and only
requested approval when approver_ids were passed in the call, so a major
publish with no approver_ids silently published directly without routing
through the approval flow — there was no way to tell "caller forgot
approvers" (null) from "caller wants no approval" (empty).
Make approver_ids an explicit choice, enforced once in the service so it
covers every caller (console, MCP, n8n):
- major publish: approver_ids must be set; an empty list publishes
directly, a non-empty list requests approval.
- minor publish: approver_ids must be omitted (approvers are ignored).
Validate this in PublishDocumentRequest.Validate(), update the console
publish dialog and the n8n publish node to honour the contract, document
it in the MCP tool spec, and cover it with e2e tests.

A signature applies to a whole major: minor publishes keep it and the
export unions signatures across every minor of the major. The request
guard was scoped to a single minor, so re-requesting on a newer minor
(or twice on the same version) inserted duplicate rows and a signatory
appeared several times on the exported signature page.
Deduplicate by loading any existing signature across the major before
inserting, cancel still-pending requests from prior majors when a new
major is published, and restrict the export to active signatories
(comparing contract end dates against the current date). A migration
collapses the duplicate rows already in the table, preferring a signed
row over a pending one and then the most recent.

Generated documents (asset list, risk register, SoA, ...) previously
only ever produced a new major version. Every regeneration of an
auto-built register consumed a major number, even when the change was
trivial. They now accept a minor flag and publish as
currentMajor.currentMinor+1 when set, bypassing the approval flow.
To carry the flag through cleanly, the document publish API was
refactored. The three split mutations (publishMajor, publishMinor,
requestDocumentVersionApproval) and the two bulk variants collapse
into a single publishDocument / bulkPublishDocuments, both taking the
new minor: Boolean! and a now-required changelog: String!. The same
shape flows through the CLI ("prb document publish --minor"), the MCP
tool, the n8n operations, and the Relay dialogs, where each
generated-doc dialog gains a "Publish as minor" button. Publishing
minor without an existing major is rejected with
ErrCannotPublishMinorWithoutMajor.
This is a deliberate breaking change for callers of the prior
mutations.

Move PDF generation from synchronous publish flow to a background polling
job. Published versions with file_id IS NULL are picked up by the job,
which generates the PDF, uploads to S3, and links the file. Export PDF
now serves stored files for published versions (with optional signature
page and watermark) and generates on the fly for drafts.

Replace the three separate draft mutations (createDraftDocumentVersion,
updateDocumentVersion, deleteDraftDocumentVersion) with automatic draft
lifecycle management inside updateDocument. The backend now auto-creates
a draft when a published document is edited, updates the existing draft
on subsequent edits, and auto-deletes the draft when content reverts to
match the published version.
A new deleteDocumentDraft mutation provides explicit draft deletion.
Backend:
- Merge version-level fields (content, title, classification,
documentType) into UpdateDocumentRequest
- Convert CreateDraft, UpdateVersion, DeleteDraft into private
transaction helpers called from Update
- Update returns (*Document, *DocumentVersion, error) with the version
present only when a draft exists
Frontend:
- Remove all create/update/delete draft mutations from components
- Auto-save via updateDocument with layout refetch on draft status
transitions while preserving editor cursor (data-generation key)
- Title, type, and classification editable on published versions
(backend auto-creates draft)
- Forms use react-hook-form values option to stay synced with Relay
fragment data across draft/publish transitions
API surface (GraphQL, MCP, CLI, n8n) updated consistently:
- Removed: createDraftDocumentVersion, updateDocumentVersion,
deleteDraftDocumentVersion
- Added: deleteDocumentDraft (document-level)
- Updated: updateDocument accepts content, classification, documentType

Replace the per-approver add/remove model with a quorum-based approval
system. Documents now have default approvers that are pre-populated when
requesting approval, and the publish dialog lets users adjust the list
before submitting.
Key changes:
- Add PENDING_APPROVAL document version status with dedicated transitions
- Introduce approval quorums with request/approve/reject/void lifecycle
- Add default approvers per document (stored in document_default_approvers)
with MERGE-based upsert for efficient sync
- Add NoDuplicates validator for slice fields
- Split ALTER TYPE ADD VALUE migrations into separate files (required by
PostgreSQL when run inside transactions)
- Use VOIDED consistently for both quorum status and decision state enums

Introduce a two-part version scheme (major.minor) for documents.
Drafts start at 0.1 and increment minor on each new draft. Publishing
as minor keeps the current version, publishing as major bumps to the
next major.0. Both current_published_major and current_published_minor
are tracked on the document for exact version lookups.
Signatures and approval quorums aggregate across all versions sharing
the same major number using CTE joins. Approval page mutations spread
the decision fragment so Relay updates the version row state without
requiring a page refresh.
GraphQL, MCP, and service layer expose separate publishMajor and
publishMinor mutations instead of a single mutation with a type enum.
